At the recent Motivation Show 2011 in Chicago, Kudos Inc., co-founded by Tom Short and Muni Boga, officially launched its Kudos 3.0 interactive system where team members and management can recognize one another for any act, effort or attitude that supports their corporate culture, values or objectives.
The communication tool allows any team to set up an account and create personalized profiles for all group members.
The system features an enhanced recognition engine that permits a team to share important information, from personal status updates to organizational visions and goals.
The foundation of the system is the ability for any registered individual to publicly acknowledge the efforts of their coworkers or colleagues.
Short says the development of the system has been in the works for a number of years.
Kudos was originally developed at Rare Method in 2007 as a platform for internal employee engagement and communication.
In 2010, Short stepped down as president of Rare Method to start Kudos Inc. Today, Kudos Inc. has eight employees and operates out of the Innovate Calgary building near the University of Calgary.
Short says the Kudos concept was at the forefront of the growing trend of employee engagement that was focused on recognition over rewards.
"Kudos is even more relevant in an economy that continues to struggle when employee engagement can be the difference between failure and success for all organizations," he says.
The recognition platform also has a comprehensive corporate social network with several features that you would find in Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter but is closed and secure.
In less than a month, Kudos 3.0 has had more than 150 new accounts sign up from four continents, adds Short.
"Kudos is not a startup - it is an established business with years of research and testing behind it . . . (we) expect to have over 1,000 accounts with over 100,000 users by the end of 2012."
